Shocks, sine and broadband random vibrations impact on phase noise perfomance of S-band frequency synthesizer

Abstract:
This paper introduces the results of experimental study of shock, sine and broadband random vibration impact on phase noise power spectral density of S-band frequency synthesizer. This uses two synthesizer prototypes based on 120 MHz and 240 MHz crystal oscil-lators. It has been shown that the doubling of crystal oscillator frequency along with using of mechanical protection can significantly reduce the impact of sinusoidal, broadband random vibration and shock on the magnitude of the phase noise spectral power density of S-band frequency synthesizer.
