Problems of modeling error-correcting codec in heterogeneous systems

Abstract:
This article represents aspects of simulation encoding and decoding processes with error correction in heterogeneous systems. In heterogeneous computers to reduce the time costs for computing, promising fields of use of idle resources: in addition to CPU resource (central processing unit), GPU computing resources (graphics processing unit). The architecture of heterogeneous systems is analyzed from the point of view of the standard OpenCL (Open Computing Language). OpenCL is an open standard fully implement technology GPGPU (General-Purpose computing on Graphics Processing Units). Simulated results are presented for LDPC codec with different parameters using decoding bit flipping algorithm. The main problem is limitation of speed of the interaction with the host computing device. As a possible solution, a new approach to minimize the level of host communications - computing device is proposed.
