Abstract:
To set a beam in given direction in modern PAA, a set of phase shifter states are to be computed, each of them is an integer value. At the same time, input parameters are real numbers according to their physical meaning, so they should be treated as floating-point values. In the article, Integer-valued algorithm is reviewed, permitting to simplify PAA controller hardware. Input parameters are transferred to its integer representation in advance, before calculations. Equation is proposed, to compute controlled phase shift in each channel in real form. Step-by-step, it is transformed to integer form, by substitution real parameters by integer values. Final result is digitally shifted and truncated, so phase state number is calculated, ready to be loaded into phase shifter. Method is proposed, to transfer coordinates and direction from real to integer form. Both of them are interdependent, so equations can be used for wide variety of cases of modern PAAs.
