Abstract:
Subject of the research includes waveguide transmission lines of the ground-based large-sized phased antenna arrays. A waveguide designing automation is a complex task, and it requires a high-level designing skill because of strict requirements to the waveguide transmission lines geometry. The modern computer-aided design systems don-t solve the waveguide layout problem completely.
Research issue is the development of methodology for the process automation and choosing of the waveguide layout designing method.
The main purpose of the research is a software development for the automated layout design of waveguide transmission line in the phased antenna arrays.
A proposed theoretical framework is based on the topological routing algorithm, set theory and graph theory. Delone triangulation is used for the routing field decomposition. The topological routing method gives opportunity to correct routed layout. Optimization criterions are overall layout length and a number of waveguide bends. Initial information includes array elements - and power dividers - inputs coordinates and boundary conditions. In the waveguide layout process there are two steps: macrolayout and microlayout. The macrolayout includes the layout model definition without route fixation. The geometry of the routs is fixed in the microlayout stage under the condition of equal lengths of waveguide lines.
Results include mathematical models of array structure and waveguide transmission line and a new methodology of waveguide layout process automation.
Results are realized in the software module WDS (Waveguide Design Solution) based on SolidWorks system. Using this module decreases waveguide transmission lines design time tenfold comparing with hand designing. This module gives an opportunity to decrease design and engineering time and costs.
A field of application includes waveguide transmission lines located inside array structure. The automation of waveguide layout is useful especially for antenna arrays with great number of array elements.
