Analysis of operation of the switching method for measuring the amplitude-and-phase distribution of an array antenna with interacting elements

Abstract:
The influence of the mutual coupling between array antenna (AA) elements on the accuracy of recovering of the amplitude-phase distribution (APD) with the help of the switching technique using a simple AA model in the form of a discrete system of point sources with known radiation patterns is analyzed. A method for accurate recovery of the array APD through the use of the switching technique is proposed. Applicability conditions of the proposed method are analyzed. Operation of the method was tested via mathematical simulation of an AA of half-wave symmetric diploes.
