Abstract:
Performance of adaptive algorithms has been thoroughly analyzed and tested in multipath-free environment. However in real-world communications multipath propagation causes strong intersymbol interference in data transmission. This paper focuses on the interference cancellation problem arising when multipath distortions occur in a desired signal. Performance of an adaptive antenna array applying Recursive Least-Squares (RLS) and Recursive Constant Modulus (RCMA) algorithms is estimated in a ten-path channel model. The obtained simulation results show that adaptive algorithms are able to mitigate both multipath and additive interference effects. Moreover, they have high convergence rate, which improves interference cancellation. RLS has proved to be faster than RCMA, however, it requires a reference signal. RCMA, by contrast, is effective in a scheme with constant-carrier signals and interference irregular in amplitude.
