Comparison of Analysis Methods for Transient and Steady-State Modes in Piecewise-Linear Systems

Abstract:
Two algorithms for the mode analysis in piecewise-linear systems of high order with the single non-linear element at arbitrary (not necessary the periodic one) external impact are compared. These algorithms are based on the solution of the equation system in time domain or on the Laplace conversion method. It is shown that at transient calculation, the Laplace conversion method is more effective while at determination of periodic modes both approaches are approximately similar from the point of view of labor intensiveness. As an example, the processes in piecewise-linear high-frequency transistor model are considered.
