Abstract:

Problem formulating. We report the latest results on inscribing extended fibre Bragg grating (FBG) arrays in multicore optical fibers. Fiber light guides are currently widely used in information transmission systems, as well as in optical sensors for various types. One of the variety for their fabrication are sensors with fiber Bragg grating. Distributed sensors require fibers with an array of such gratings. To obtain a large amount of information, it is necessary to manufacture a multi-core optical fiber.

Goal. Fabrication and measurement of a multi-core optical fiber with an array of Bragg gratings for further use as a distributed optical signal sensor.

Result. We present the result of measurements of the optical properties of the obtained prototype of a multi-core silica fiber with an array of Bragg gratings twisted during drawing.

Practical meaning. The paper demonstrates the possibility of manufacturing fiber light guides of a special type, as well as their optical characteristics obtained by frequency reflectometry.
