Abstract:
This paper presents the results of experimental and theoretical study of two type single-mode optical fiber properties - tapered double-clad optical fiber with a core diameter of 100 microns and cylindrical fiber with W-refractive index profile with a core diameter of 50 microns weakly sensitive to macro bends. Such fibers are characterized by a record large effective area of the fundamental mode and can be advantageously used in high power laser systems with the aim of lowering the non-linear effects threshold.
