Abstract:
The article examines the implementation of the thermal degradation of polystyrene materials representing domestic or industrial waste, using as a source of thermal energy of the electromagnetic field of microwave and activated carbon as a distributed inverter heat. Increasing amount of plastic waste require solutions to their disposal or recycling. Thermal degradation of polystyrene allows to obtain initial monomer and low molecular weight products, which can later be used for re-synthesis of the polymer or for new materials. The authors conducted a theoretical study of the properties of the polymer and the heating process termotransforming material in the microwave electromagnetic field using numerical methods for mathematical modeling. The article presents the results of an experimental study of thermal degradation of polystyrene materials using active carbon and high intensity microwave field.
