Spectral properties of THz emission from mesa oscillator based on Bi<sub>2</sub>Sr<sub>2</sub>CaCu<sub>2</sub>O<sub>8+d</sub>

Abstract:
First set of experiments on spectral properties research of high-temperature superconductor oscillators based on Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+d intrinsic Josephson junction stacks forming mesa was made. We studied the oscillator working regimes and frequency tuning features. The emission to free space of THz waves at frequencies 450-737 GHz is obtained with the best linewidth as narrow as 6 MHz. We succeed in oscillator phase locking and demonstrating the possibility of measuring of gas absorption lines using such a device.
