Anomaly of torsional strain in TaS<sub>3</sub> near the Peierls transition temperature

Abstract:
The amplitude of torsional angle is measured in a wide temperature range for TaS3 whiskers. An anomaly is found near the Peierls transition temperature. We attribute the anomaly to spontaneous fluctuations of the CDW phase.
