Properties of the Anisimkin Jr. - acoustic plate modes in piezo- and nonpiezoelectric materials of various symmetry

Abstract:
Elastic polarization of the acoustic plate modes with propagation velocities vn close to that of the longitudinal BAW vL are studied numerically. It is shown that at vn » vL three different mode families may exist - the generalized Lamb mode with comparable longitudinal u1, shear-horizontal u2, and shear-vertical u3 displacements, the Anisimkin Jr.?(AN) mode with u1 >> u2, u3 and u1 » const ¹ 0 at any depth, and the quasi-longitudinal (QL) mode with u1 > u2, u3, but u1 ¹ constant over the plate thickness. In contrast to Lamb modes the AN and QL counterparts are characterised by much lower dispersion and regular plate thickness supporting the modes propagation. These properties of the AN and QL modes do not depend on the elastic anisotropy and piezoelectric properties of the plate material
