Abstract:

The article is devoted to the aspects of using the object-relational database management system (DBMS) PostgreSQL as the main storage of static and dynamic route information in modern river information systems deployed on the inland waterways of the Russian Federation. The mechanisms of data consolidation from several PostgreSQL DBMS have been considered. The main aspects of using PostgreSQL in river information systems for storing heterogeneous information and the possibility of linking it to virtual objects of shipping routes for exchanging electronic data between river vessels and coastal control points, including for exchanging route information on navigation conditions on waterways, have been covered. The world experience of using various information technologies for the implementation of software that meets the standards of notices to skippers and electronic single message systems in inland navigation has been summarized. The practical significance of the study lies in the consideration and implementation of fundamental approaches to the use of the object-relational database management system PostgreSQL, due to its reliability, performance and scalability, as the basis of river information service systems, and their implementation on inland waterways.
