Abstract:

To study the regularities of formation and realization of the structure of individual experience, it is necessary to investigate the features of processes of neural specialization in relation to the components of this structure.

The aim of the work is characterization of the role of activity of specialized neurons in the organization of behavior by evaluating the ratio of the spiking frequency of neurons in a behavioral act, relative to which they are specialized, to the frequency of activity in the rest of the behavior, testing the homogeneity of the distribution of this relationship in a sample of cells. The results of the analysis of the distribution of the ratio of average spiking frequency in a specific act to the activity in other behavior for a population of specialized neurons of the retrosplenial cortex have been presented. The two-humped nature of this distribution has been revealed, which indicates the heterogeneity of this population.

Identification of heterogeneity in the population of specialized neurons may indicate their different roles in providing behavior and the presence of special specializations for “categorical” experience, which can be used in interaction with the “virtual” environment.
