Abstract:
The article describes the structure of expert data used for decision making support in complex project management and the techniques of data representation in information systems of project management. The suggested data structure includes expert knowledge about external factors impact on the project as well as know-ledge about project objectives, their interconnections, key indicators and estimations of their accessibility. The transfer from the model of project works to the model of project objectives helps to simplify the procedure of expert assessment and reduce the final estimation errors. Distinguished requirements to the technique of expert data representation in decision making support systems are based on peculiarities of data storage and data processing. Among them are the requirements of data integrity, simplicity of data manipulation, easy integration in existing data structures, simple transformation between formats of storage and processing, high productivity of data processing, minimization of intrasystem data interchange. The results of analysis of three different ways of expert data representation in information systems: matrix, relational and object representations are described. Matrix representation meets the distinguished requirements only partly. Relational representation of expert data characterized complex projects has several disadvantages such as data superfluity in some types of data model or complication of data integrity maintenance in the other types of data model. Object representation gives good opportunities for expert data processing in decision making support systems, but may demands special instruments for transformation between formats of storage and processing. Examples of relational and object representation of expert data characterized complex industrial projects are given in the article.
