Application of Adobe Flash platform in visual perception tachistoscopic studies: Hardware  software system

Abstract:
A hardware-software eyetracking system for non-invasive gaze-contingent visual and oculomotor processes research is described. The system monitors eye movements and signals stimulus software in case of eye position has reached a given threshold. Software creation for instrumental research capable of rapid display change triggered by a certain event on ActionScript 3 programming language is considered in principle. Source code necessary for tachistoscopic experiment conduction and means to overcome the timing precision limitations of specific platform are addressed. Possible applications and disadvantages of the system are discussed.
