Abstract:
The authors considered the problem of imparting antibacterial properties to polymers by nanostructuring of their surfaces with the use of technological ion-plasma methods. The nanostructuring of the surface is shown to result in changing its physical and chemical properties thus hampering its biodestruction. By changing composition of the technological environment of bombarding ion-plasma beam one can maintain the value of surface energy and the surface roughness in wide ranges with given parameters. After the example of the interaction with grampositive, gramnegative microorganisms and pathogen funguses, the surface nanostructuring of polymers is demonstrated to lead to increasing surface stability with respect to the biodestruction.
