Plasmon absorption in nanocomposites based on stearic acid with silver nanoparticles

Abstract:
Preparation techniques of nanocomposite film structures on the base of stearic acid (SA) and the silver nanoparticles (Ag) by an active gas phase and followed a heat treatment are studied. It is established, that an increase of the plasmon absorption band optical density is observed in the bilayer lamellar SA-Ag nanostructure electronic spectrum at the heating temperature of 150°C, which suggests a silver nanoparticles formation in the composite structure. It is shown, that the electron-beam exposure of the SA-Ag mixture in the crucible leads to deposition of coating with significant amount of the original salt, which is the source of clusters and Ag nanoparticles during the heat treatment. The use of silver chloride as Ag source is not effective due to the presence of significant amount of the original salt in deposited layers, as well as chlorine adsorbed by the metal surface of the particles, which reacts with the metal and destroys the nanoparticles.
