Abstract:
We propound new nano-composites based on polyolefins, modern fire retardants, and organic clay. The composites have low calorific value due to a content of organomodified fire clay providing formation of stable carbonized layer suppressing combustion processes and heat yield. The results open the possibility to design new fire resistant compounds for engineering and construction purposes combining fire resistivity with improved physical and mechanical properties and low emission of toxic fumes when burned.
