Eddy current sensors (EDS) are widely used in monitoring and diagnosing the condition of rotating shafts of various power plants. However, modern devices for measuring shape defects use these sensors to a very limited extent as the main measuring transducer of the Target. To evaluate the possibility of using an eddy current sensor and an optical manipulator system as an additional round gauge probe. Aim of article to research on various types of materials are presented. It follows from the presented studies that vortex sensors can serve as a means of detecting microdefects and detecting micro-glare-micro-removal of a rotating part, but cannot be used to measure non-magnetic materials, for these purposes it is necessary to supplement this type of sensors with optical methods. The data can be used to create a new generation of domestic devices that combine both the properties of a device for geometric measurements and flaw detection.
