Abstract:

To implement the functions of planning and distribution of channel resource in networks based on high-bandwidth spacecraft in geostationary and highly elliptical orbits, it is necessary to develop models of processes for the joint maintenance of real-time multiservice traffic and elastic data traffic. The models should take into account the peculiarities of the functioning of such networks, including the uneven data flows for different local areas of the beams of onboard antennas, restrictions on the interval of speeds of elastic data traffic, on the number of different types of applications served, and the group receipt of data requests. In addition, during operation, there is a time limit for obtaining control solutions, which requires the development of simplified models for approximate estimation of indicators with relatively little computational complexity. The purpose of the work is to solve the modeling problem taking into account the listed factors. In the course of the study, it is believed that flows of request all types are Poisson, and the service times have exponential distributions. In this case, the process of functioning of the network is described by a multidimensional step Markov process with a finite state space. A system of equilibrium equations has been compiled and a software module for its solution based on the Gauss-Seidel iterative method has been developed. When the number of model states exceeds tens of millions, the time to obtain a numerical solution becomes unacceptably long. Therefore, a simulation model of joint maintenance of real-time multiservice traffic and elastic data traffic is additionally built. A model of approximate estimation of the share of request flows lost due to the lack of a free channel resource has also been developed, taking into account the previously accumulated experience of numerical experiments, for a three-service network that serves low-speed and high-speed real-time traffic, and elastic data traffic. For each model, the conditions of its preferred use in solving the problems of planning and distribution of the channel resource are determined. Quantitative analysis confirmed the high accuracy of the estimates of service quality indicators for the simulation model and the approximate estimation model. The developed models can be used to build information transmission network management systems based on spacecraft with high throughput while jointly servicing real-time traffic and elastic data traffic.
