Abstract:

Application of cancellers based on adaptive antenna arrays (AAA) is one of effective ways to suppress narrowband interferences in GNSS user equipment. Four-element AAA, compact and realizing less resource-intensive spatial interference cancelling algorithms, became a mainstream. An interference cancelling algorithm substantiated selection problem is actual and practical significant because it’s solving based on compromise between interference cancelling coefficient increasing and algorithm computational complexity limiting for its realization on specified hardware platform. After that, while the interference cancelling algorithm in operation, antenna array nulls towards interfering sources are shaped, resulting in not only desirable interference signals depression but also undesirable attenuation of useful signals from GNSS satellites being in similar directions with interfering sources.

Goal of the work is a selection rationale and characteristics study of spatial interference cancelling algorithm for AAA, as well as assessment of its impact to GNSS user equipment accuracy performance.

An adaptive spatial interference cancelling algorithm minimizing AAA average output power at linear constraints to useful signal arrival direction is proposed. Analysis of AAA pattern change depending on quantity, level and angular coordinates of interfering sources is carried out. An impact of spatial interference canceller on GNSS user equipment accuracy performance is investigated.

Implementation of algorithm based on the reciprocal matrix QR decomposition for four-element AAA, providing constant gain at zenith and minimums at interferences arrival directions, is proposed. Presented interferences depression values depending on number, level, elevation angle and azimuth of influences are permits to define more precisely interference immunity and accuracy performances of GNSS user equipment rigged with spatial interference canceller.
