Airborne early warning and control systems and integration with information management systems

Abstract:
A principal way of enhancing airborne early warning and control systems is to incorporate all of its sensors in and integrated information systems. It should be noted that the process of incorporation requires solution of various conceptual, theoretical and practical problems. For next generation AEW&C systems integration subjects include multipurpose radar, IFF system, multispectral optic-electronic system and SIGINT system, on-board defence system, communication system, navigation system, automated control system and on-board computing system. Three possible ways of integration are studied: inside a single system, across several systems in a multiposition guidance system or within the framework of a global network centric system. In the article, specifics of integration on different stages during management of task execution, on-board sensor management and carrier control.
