Abstract:
The main principals of building electronic archive for long-term preservation are considered in the article. Electronic Archive (EA) is defined as an integrated suite of software and hardware designed for long-term storage of archival documents in electronic form and providing access to them, in accordance with the needs of key audiences. Under the key audience (or designated community) understood the number of people with the necessary store of knowledge for the adequate perception of the content of documents. Article allocates the basic obligation to be performed by the information system, which implements the function of EA. Negotiate for and accept appropriate information from information producers. Obtain sufficient control of the information in order to meet long-term preservation objectives. Determine the scope of the archive-s user community. Follow documented policies and procedures to ensure the information is preserved against all reasonable contingencies, and to enable dissemination of authenticated copies of the preserved information in its original form, or in a form traceable to the original. Make the preserved information available to the user community. Description of the concept of constructing EA is divided into two interrelated parts. The first describes the environment within which the works of EA, the second - the functional components and the internal mechanisms that carry out the previously mentioned obligations. There are producers of information, consumers and managers outside of EA. Producers are the individuals, organizations, or systems that transfer information to the OAIS for long-term preservation. Management-s responsibilities include formulating, revising, and in some circumstances, enforcing, the high-level policy framework governing the OAIS-s activities. Consumers receive and use the archived information. Among them is allocated a special class of users, referred to as a key audience. In describing the functional model allocated six key high-level subsystems, each of which provides a general description and is defined by the component structure: Subsystem generation of data intended to receive information from the source and prepare it for placement in archive. Archival storage is responsible for selecting the method of storing information, as well as for verifying that a set of stored bits is holistic and reproducible during the entire storage time. Data management subsystem is responsible for the maintenance of the descriptive information storage facilities, as well as for the management of statistical data system. Storage subsystem planning process is intended to implement the chosen strategy of storing information. Subsystem data access controls processes and services in which consumers - particularly the designated community - request and receive information from the archival repository. Subsystem performs the day-to-day administrative operations of the EA and coordinates the other five subsystems. As long as the world's knowledge will be provided a discrete, divided not only on the real physical, but also virtual documents, we will need to find them, unite in mind and, therefore, provide search and identifying characteristics.
