Abstract:
The virtual reality systems (VRS) are the necessary part of unmanned aerial vehicle systems (UAS) operator training systems. Their usage can shorten the terms of operator training, improve operator readiness to manage the difficult situations, decrease the mistake risk and prevent from UAV loosing. The VRS structure includes: 3-D terrain model, UAV model, the route as well as grafic and dynamical objects. The elements of VRS are described in the article. The results of experiments proved the efficiency of the technology discussed above. It is also possible to create the 3-D terrain models in the full automatic mode, using only digital maps. If it is necessary, there is the possibility to raise the model accuracy, using terrain images automatic processing. The input data list is available to calculate the UAV payload image models. It is possible to provide the interactive mode of UAV operator training, using VRS. It may be necessary to use for this case the digital 3-D terrain model up to hundred square kilometers, providing the object description accuracy better then several meters.
