The high-speed device for edge detect of objects

Abstract:
Now the set of devices for objects edge detection on images which use known methods of processing (filtration, spatial differentiation, thresholding) is known. Increase of speed of image-processing device is reached through the use of high-speed elements, and by increasing the level of parallelism. Hardware realization of the software functions and creation functional dilators for carrying out of often used calculations is one of the basic directions for improving image processing systems. With this approach to an edge detection problem, it is possible refuse to execute the basic procedures of image processing by the Digital signal processor (DSP), and it is possible to realize filtration and spatial differentiation in hardware in specialized blocks. It allows improve the performance of the device. The resulting string of the processed image for spatial differentiation is formed at performance of spatial differentiation operation with use of Sobel-s operator in the offered high-speed device for edge detection. The resulting string of the processed image for an image filtration is gained with the use of masks convolution, which represents discrete approximation of function of Tikhonov regularization. The calculations made by the block of spatial differentiation and the block of a filtration, are reduced to operations of multiplication and addition which are carried out using shift registers, adders and logic elements, which allows to realize the given blocks on programmable logic device (PLD). The proposed solution allows improve the performance of the device through hardware implementation of the operation of filtration and spatial differentiation in their respective blocks of the device
