The problems of data availability of electronic archives for long-term storage

Abstract:
The article deals with the problems of long-term preservation of electronic documents in terms of their availability during the entire period of storage. In the introduction to define the context under consideration of the availability of electronic documents throughout the life of long-term storage. Defined temporal stages of development of electronic document and archive. The first section introduced the concepts and definitions necessary for the description of the problem in common terms. The second section describes the particular technical problems during prolonged storage of electronic documents. Considered in detail four of them: the authentic document for the duration of storage; «aging» of media; the movement of data and metadata integrity; problem interpretability and display of electronic documents during prolonged storage. The third section describes the possible ways to solve particular technical problems discussed in section 2. Propose concrete solutions and options, the possible difficulties of implementation decisions when creating software systems of electronic archives. In addition, in the third section looks at the problem of synchronization archive paper documents and records archiving system that stores the documents requisite information. The fourth section provides a definition of electronic documents for long-term archival storage. Determined by the components of the electronic document and their main characteristics. In conclusion, attention is focused on the urgency of the problem of long-term preservation of electronic documents. The examples of the implementation of electronic records created by the authors and intended for long-term storage of electronic documents.
