Adaptive control of the dynamic behavior of the rotor in active magnetic bearings

Abstract:
Main task of a control system of active magnetic bearings is to provide specified shaft position and vibration level at variable loads and different speeds. To achieve this goal it should take in to account changes of the rotor eigenfrequencies with dynamic characteristics of the supports. This paper proposes the method of synthesis an adaptive control system of active magnetic bearings. Main feature of that method is to provide access to the rotor operating regime without overcoming flexural critical frequency. An example of the synthesis the adaptive control system for magnetic suspension experimental rig based on the proposed methodology is shown. The results can be used to synthesis the adaptive control systems of compressor machines with active magnetic bearings.
