The article presents a study of the RISC-V open architecture as a promising platform for designing electronic systems of various complexity levels. A comparative analysis of the RISC-V, ARM Cortex, and DSP architectures was conducted based on a set of criteria – performance, power consumption, cost of ownership, flexibility, ecosystem maturity, and technology availability. Based on the results of the analysis, a method for quantifying the effectiveness of architectures is proposed, including the calculation of the architectural adaptability coefficient. Three levels of RISC-V integration into electronic systems have been identified: microcontroller, system, and specialized. It is shown that RISC-V has a high degree of adaptability, openness and potential for hardware customization, which makes it strategically important for domestic developments in conditions of technological sovereignty and import independence.
