Abstract:

Nowadays, internal combustion engines are used everywhere: on land, on water and in the air. The use of reliable, compact power plants has recently become especially relevant for unmanned aircraft. The article analyzes engines of classical design, identifies shortcomings and ways to eliminate them. The development of an engine for unmanned aerial vehicles using a recoil-free mechanism that eliminates the lateral pressure of the piston against the cylinder wall has been described. Aspects of the choice of structural materials, assembly and thermal gaps in engine parts have been considered.

The aim of the article is to analyze the effectiveness of the design of modern power plants of unmanned aerial vehicles, to find weaknesses and to develop a new design engine in which the shortcomings will be corrected.

As results, analysis of the effectiveness of engines used on modern unmanned aerial vehicles in combat operations has been performed. The disadvantages have been identified and ways to overcome them have been proposed.
