Abstract:

A rapid development and use of unmanned aerial vehicles cause high requirements for flight safety during intensive take-off and landing operations both at large aerodromes and at regional and small aerodromes with poorly developed infrastructure.

There is a specialized system of independent non-cooperative aviation surveillance is surface movement radars (SMR), which have gone through certain stages in their development related to modification of requirements for them, as well as the development of radar systems engineering.

Numerous multi-level structures and regulatory departments related to the field of aeronautical surveillance determined the variety of special terminology, making it difficult to present and fulfill requirements for this class of radar systems.

The modern interpretation of terms, certification requirements, a retrospective analysis of the development of surface movement radars, as well as significant factors and perspective technological decisions determining the trends in their improvement are of interest to a wide range of specialists involved in the problems of independent non-cooperative aviation surveillance.
