In the development of radar designed to operate in the conditions of the enemy's use of electronic warfare, the closest attention is paid to solving the problem of protecting them from electronic weapons. To do this, it is necessary to have a fairly complete understanding of the current state and prospects for the development of electronic warfare, which are part of the airborne electronic warfare systems (EW). The article deals with modern and promising aircraft means of electronic warfare of the US Army, designed to defeat radar: individual electronic suppression armaments, microwave means of functional destruction and electronic warfare means of un-manned aerial vehicles.
The most advanced and diverse airborne EW complexes of individual protection are complexes of tactical and strategic aviation of the US Army, while the United States is actively working on the modernization of existing and the creation of new airborne EW armaments. The article provides information on the electronic warfare systems of individual protection for the following aircrafts: F-15, F-16, F-18, F-22A, F-35, B-52, B-1B, B-2A.
The most important direction of improvement of modern on-board electronic warfare means is connected with the integration of radio-electronic equipment, including on-board carrier radars. In addition, much attention is paid to the inclusion of forces and means of electronic warfare in a single information and communication space to ensure control and optimal target distribution of forces and means on the objects of action in real time.
The most promising electronic warfare armament is electromagnetic weapons, the development of which is given increasing attention abroad. Currently, the United States has created a warhead with microwave weapons, which can be installed on air-to-surface cruise missiles. The use of UAV is also considered a promising implementation of electronic warfare. Currently, the United States is implementing several long-term programs related to the use of aviation formations of mixed composition.
