Abstract:

In the development of radar designed to operate in the conditions of the enemy's use of electronic warfare, the closest attention is paid to solving the problem of protecting them from electronic weapons. To do this, it is necessary to have a fairly complete understanding of the current state and prospects for the development of electronic warfare, which are part of the airborne electronic warfare systems (EW). In part 1 of this article discusses modern and promising air-borne electronic warfare of the U.S. Armed forces, designed to defeat radar: group electronic suppression (ES) means, including autonomous aerial false targets, and anti-radar missiles.

The main task of EW aircraft EA-18G consists in electronic suppression of radar detection, guidance and targeting and control SAMS with «modified support» combat orders of aviation. They can also use the method of «penetrating escort». The main tasks of the  application of the EC-130N aircraft, operating mainly in the barrage zones, are the conduct of radio and electronic intelligence in the interests of electronic warfare, electronic suppression of early detection radar of decimeter and meter wavelength ranges, radio communications, data exchange and automated control systems.

Currently, the United States is developing a promising system of setting deliberate active interference NGJ, providing suppression of electronic control systems of troops and weapons of enemy air defense. The emergence of the NGJ system will allow the United States to make a significant technological breakthrough in the field of creating electronic warfare equipment for various purposes and bases, including for a promising EW aircraft based on the F-35B.

Currently, the United States has developed two types of maneuvering autonomous air targets (AAT) – MALD and MALD-J. MALD-J unlike MALD is equipped with a response jamming station and is capable of providing electronic suppression of radar and anti-aircraft fire control. The main directions of modernization of AVLC MALD-J are: introduction of block-modular construction of the equipment; increase of efficiency of ES by increasing the power of the interference transmitter and improvement of receiving equipment sensitivity; use of more perfect methods of formation of interference; increase of the receiving channel noise immunity of onboard equipment of satellite navigation system «NAVSTAR».

The us military aviation armament consists of guided anti-radar missiles of the AGM-88 HARM family. When improving the basic model of AGM-88 HARM, the main efforts of the developers were aimed at realizing the possibility not only to hit SAMS with antiradar missiles when their radar is active, but also the ability to detect and attack them during the «radio silence».

The most important direction of improvement of modern airborne electronic warfare is associated with the integration of electronic equipment, including airborne radar carrier. In addition, much attention is paid to the inclusion of forces and means of electronic warfare in a single information and communication space to ensure control and optimal target distribution of forces and means on the objects of action in real time.
