Abstract:

The paper synthesizes a quasi-likelihood and maximum likelihood algorithms for estimating the initial phase of an ultra-wideband quasi-radiosignal with an unknown duration, observed against the background of additive Gaussian white noise. By an ultra-wideband quasi-radio signal was meant a signal whose structure is similar to a narrow-band radiosignal, but the condition of relative narrowband is not satisfied. It was assumed that the initial phase was estimated under conditions of a priori parametric uncertainty regarding the amplitude and duration of the quasi-radio signal. A block diagram of a quasi-likelihood and maximum likelihood initial phase meters, differing in the way of overcoming a priori uncertainty, is proposed. In the synthesis of a quasi-likelihood algorithm for an unknown duration, a certain expected value was used, and for the most plausible algorithm – maximization of the decisive statistics. The statistical characteristics of the synthesized initial phase estimation algorithms was found. The quantitative characteristics of reducing the accuracy of the initial phase estimate due to a priori ignorance of the quasi-radiosignal duration was found. The influence of the narrowband parameter on the accuracy and quality of the phase estimate was investigated. The scattering of the estimate decreases with increasing narrowband parameter and signal-to-noise ratio.
