The method of digital video signal compression for transmission in a television communication channel considered in this work takes into account the psychophysical features of the human eye, which allows to obtain higher visual image quality results than in the MPEG-2 standard, without complicating the encoding and decoding devices.
The principle of the compression method involves dividing the fields into groups. The group uses three types of fields: O-fields, which play the role of intra-fields; even N-fields predicted using the previous field within the same frame; odd M-fields predicted using the odd field of the previous frame. The proposed methods increase the efficiency of digital stream compression in a television communication channel. Block diagrams of the coding and decoding devices are given, their operation is described and comparative analysis vs existing MPEG coding systems is carried out.
