The results of numerical simulation of a relativistic electron beam in a gas-filled interaction space are given. The effect of various neutral gases on the generation modes of this system is studied. It is shown that the neutral gas type has a significant effect on the generation mode in a relativistic electron beam. The dependence of the pulse amplitude on the neutral gas type is found, and twofrequency pulsed mode can occur for some gases. It is shown that an increase in the neutral gas atom mass leads to a decrease in the transient process time.
