Abstract:

The choice of the operating mode of the active element of a linear low-noise amplifier is a complex task due to the fact that such devices have two influencing classes of characteristics: amplifying (G gain, standing wave and output VSWR1, VSWR2) and Noise (noise factor NRC, equivalent noise temperature Teq). In this paper, a methodology is presented that aims at eliminating these shortcomings. The approach is considered on the example of the selection of the operating mode of the active element (AE) for the low-noise amplifier at the conjugate-matched input.
