The features of the implementation of a communications protocol for control APAA

Abstract:
The article is discussed the control system for the active phased array. This system transmits beamforming parameters, such a phase and amplitude coefficients, frequency parameters, process settings. The development includes a communication subsystem to transmit information from the control device to the transceiver module and the communication protocol between all devices in the system. The first task involves building a system topology, choice of hardware, selection of internal interfaces, and the second task is creation data transfer protocol from external control device to all nodes in the system. The paper proposes a single-purpose communication protocol, which allows to broadcast commands, scales the system, deletes the intermediate nodes, builds prototyping stand, debugging device in any node of the system. The instructions have the same header format for all levels in hierarchy, which indicates the type and address of the source and the receiver. Thus the packets are transmitted on the system without modification and encapsulation. The following tasks have been resolved during the creation the protocol: - Assessment channel bandwidth, data transfer optimization; - Providing AFAR synchronous operation by control signals; - Development response messages mechanism from all executing devices; - Development errors handling mechanisms; - Providing technological mode for firmware updates; - Providing debugging and diagnostic; - Scalability to build stands and new radars. As a result, the proposed system was implemented in Verilog hdl, SystemVerilog. The functional simulation is passed and tested in stand with FPGA, ADC, gigabit transceivers for optical channels. The implementation of a protocol optimizes the design process, simplify system debugging, enabled reuse cores in the system.
