Estimation for possibility of creation of powerful pulse modulator on the basis transformer with external magnetic circuit

Abstract:
A pulse sources for supply (modulators) with output voltage up to tens MV at pulse, currents up to tens KA and pulse durations 1-100 ns are used in accelerating equipment and powerful superhigh frequency electronics. The article presents results of electronics development of experimental samples of pulse transformer which can be used in similar supply sources. Characteristic peculiarities of transformer being considered in external (regarding winding) magnetic circuit, consisting of ferrite rings, which provide technological effectiveness production. At good mass-overall dimension characteristics transformer has coefficient of efficiency 0,94-0,98. To get the required parameters of pulse modulator the transformer can be produced from several sections connected parallel or sequentially.
