Abstract:
The article describes the method of the modernization of SPFU(Self-Propelled Fire Units) of - BUK-M1 - SAM system. One of the problem of using SPFU is in the fact that tactical data link can be established only with standard command post (CP 9C470M1). If the command post was destroyed or tactical data link can-t be established, SPFU would work in autonomous mode.
Autonomous mode reduces the efficiency of using fire units in modern warfare. Proposed method allows the integration of SPFU with different Universal Battalion Command Posts (UBCP). UBCP allows the integration of different SAM and SAAS in mixed tactical groups using special radio or wires channels. The Special Embedded Kit (SEK) has been developed by authors. SEK is a pack of special data cables, tactical UHF radio, modem and special data converting device (DCD). DCD is used for data converting between IO system of SPFU and tactical modem. DCD has been developed using only native electronic components and works in a wide range of temperatures - from -50 °C to +50°C and in the conditions of vibratory loads. DCD has the following structure:
- Microcontroller 1986VE1T
- 5567XC1T FPGA device
These devices provide:
- Special channel for interaction DCD to SPFU IO system
- RS-232 channel for interaction DCD with modem
- Data converting programs executing
Thus, the data converting device provides the data convertion between SPFU data format and modem data format in the SEK. Modem can be connected to UHF radio or to a wired line. So the tactical data link with UBCP can be established.
SEK can be used both for modernization of existing SPFU and for upgrading SPFU at the stage of the production. Modernized SPFU can be integrated into problem-oriented and mixed SAM systems tactical groups.
