Electronic warfare for reducing combat capabilities of unmanned aerial vehicles

Abstract:
Under present-day military environment communications surveillance and lighting means of operating situation play an important role. The decision of this problem is mainly based on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). To solve UAV neutralization problem electronic warfare (EW) must be used, including mass destruction weapons (MDW) and electronic countermeasures equipment (ECM equipment). The disfunction of navigation command systems can be solved by two methods: radio interference to these channels and radar equipment jamming. In case radio interference of communication channels "Earth-UAV", "UAV-Earth" it is necessary to lift receiving or transmitting jamming equipment to the height which is equal or more than the height of UAV flight. It is better to install jamming equipment in the balloon. At the same time, detector - repeater and jammer transmitter must beinstalled in a balloon. At the present moment the developed technologies provide the ability to jam GPS receivers. The more preferable is to use jammer stations with noise signals, which eliminate the possibility to identify the location of jammer station. To soft kill the radio electronic system UAV it is necessary to create the microwave frequency electromagnetic impulse complex with energy potential more than 1011-1012 kW in the impulse. Such complex, as estimation shows, will provide the soft kill of radio electronic system on the distance to 12-15 km.
