Abstract:
Numerical results of investigation of interaction between waves propagating inside non-linear electromagnetic crystal are presented. Regime of spatial synchronism of forward wave propagating at dominant frequency and backward wave propagating at the second harmonic of the dominant frequency is studied.
Non-linear electromagnetic crystal is a two-dimensional periodical array of metal cylinders with non-linear lumped capacitors. Metal cylinders are placed between two infinite metal screens.
Eigen modes of a linear electromagnetic crystal are considered in order to find parameters which realize regime of spatial synchronism of modes propagating at dominant frequency and its second harmonic. It is numerically shown that spatial synchronism may be obtained for forward wave propagating at the dominant frequency and backward wave propagating at the second harmonic.
Excitation of electromagnetic crystal infinite along one coordinate and finite along another coordinate by plane waves is numerically studied. It is shown that effective generation of the second harmonic is possible in regime of spatial synchron-ism of forward and backward waves.
Effect of parametrical amplification of wave propagating at the dominant frequency due to transformation of energy of pump wave propagating at the second harmonic is investigated. It is shown that effective parametrical amplification is possible when electromagnetic crystal is excited by two waves propagating in the same directions as well as when they propagate in different directions.
