Abstract:
Microarc oxidation (MAO) is a widely used technique of stable oxide layer forming for galvanic corrosion protaction of parts made of various alloys working in contact with titanium alloys in conditions of the marine environment. Traditional anodizing techniques may be difficult to implement for treatment of large size structures. In such a case, untraditional technical approaches are sought. The objective of satisfying the product technical specifications can be achieved by means of improving the MAO techniques as well as improving the equipment and tooling. The design of tooling for oxidation of various surfaces of heavy equipment depends on various factors. It may considerably differ even in treatment of surface of the same shapes. The tooling may be attached directly to the large size structures (large parts or large equipment). Alternatively, it may be fixed in an auxiliary device. The tooling installation method is determined by the processing technique, the shape of the structure and the arrangement of the treated surfaces. For one-off and small-scale production the tooling is fixed directly to the treated structure by means of various fixing sets. Various microarc oxidation schematics used in our production process are discussed.
