Standardization of silver birch (Betula pendula Roth.) pollen used in the allergenic extracts production

Abstract:
The article presents data for the standardization procedure of natural native materials - birch pollen (Betula pendula Roth). The study objectives consisted of anatomical and diagnostic characteristics examining that are used to determine the identity and purity as natural material has a high variability. Two techniques were used for mount preparing: pollen in a liquid, pollen in the air environment. The birch pollen grains usually are solitary, 3-pore, radially symmetric, isopolar, flattened-spheroidal. Looking in the outline with one pole - it is rounded-triangular, and in equatorial position - flattened-rounded. Polar axis is 14.5...18.0 μm, equatorial diameter is 20.5...25.4 μm, P/E=0.72. Regarding to the pores, they are mostly located equatorially (zonal position). Also pores have a rim that is slightly elevated above the surface of the pollen grain. The characteristics of the arboreal plants pollen impurity - common hazel (Corylus avellana L.), goat willow (Salix caprea L.), boxelder maple or ash-leaved maple (Acer negundo L.) ? were described. Due to the research it would be possible to create a full-fledged modern regulatory documentation. The identity and purity of native material used for the full birch pollen extract production in the Russian Federation can be determined by this basic documentation.
