Somatic cell reprogramming
Authors:
E.A. Komech
Abstract:
For a quite long time idea of somatic cells reprogramming was banished. This opinion was turned on by most recent researches demonstrating a capacity of mature cells to be reprogrammed in a pluripotent state (induced pluripotent stem cells, iPS) or transdifferentiated without proceeding through embryonic state. This approach opens an entirely new field of research and provides a helpful tools for variety of clinical applications including investigation of disease aetiology, cell therapy, toxicology and drug testing.
