Potential carcinogenicity study of antibacterial drug Sanguiritrin

Abstract:
Experimental and potential carcinogenicity properties of the antimicrobial phytodrug Sanguiritrin, isolated from Macleaya cordata (Willd.) R.Br.) and Macleaya microcarpa (Maxim.) Fedde (Papaveraceae) have been studied. Two series testing were applied in experiments on pubertal mice: the drug was used on epicuteneous banding over the life duration, while 40 % alcogol was used as the control. The drug was applied on the clipping part of the skin. In the second series of tests there were studied promotеr action of Sanguiritrin, while 7,12-dimethylbeng[a]antracene (7,12-DMBA) was used as the carcinogenе, on epicuteneous application following, treatment with drug after 2 weeks similar to that as in previons the example. Тhere were shown that the latent period of tumor growth, a number of tumors of the animals got the Sanguiritrin were not exceeded even the control parametrs. Thus the results produced are testified that the drug Sanguiritrin have not carcinogenicity properties during the life duration application аnd the latter is not the carcinogenicity promoter.
