Abstract:
The aim of the study was to investigate effect of topical corticosteroids on antioxidant status of blood in patients with psoriasis. We measured superoxidedismutase and catalase activity, diene conjugates, TBA-reactive substances, proteins carbonyl derivatives and middle molecular peptides. Our results shows that enzymes activity decreases in blood of patients and during the topical corticosteroids treatment their activity was more inhibited. Content of lipid peroxidation and oxidative modification of proteins markers in blood of patients with psoriasis before treatment were increased, despite depression of antioxidant defense during the treatment content of oxidative damage markers were also decreased.
