Abstract:
We have previously elucidated the phenolic contents of the herb Lycopus europaeus, extract of which is proposed as thy reotropic drug, but the natural resourses of the plant are insufficient for its commercial production. Now we have tried to isolate phenolic compounds from the herb Lycopusexaltatus L. for the comparison with the phenolic composition of Lycopuseuropaeus. The herbof Lycopusexaltatus, collected in Lipetsk region near village Sotnikovo12.08.2011 ,was treated with 40°EtOH.The extract was evaporated to dryness. A part of the extract was dissolved in water and extracted with CHCl3, EtOAc and n-BuOH. The EtOAc- and n-BuOH layers were repeatedly chromatographed on SG column, using CHCl3 - MeOH as the eluent in the gradient regime. There were isolated 9 phenolic compounds: apigenin, luteolin, caffeic acid, protocatechuic aldehyde, luteolin-7-glucuronide methyl ester, luteolin-7-glucuronide ethyl ester, a mixture of the luteolin-7-glucuronide and apigenin-7-glucuronide.The same compounds were isolated from Lycopuseuropaeus. The practically important for the biological activity ions of Cu, Mn and Zn are present in both extracts. The 1H NMR and the UV spectra of the both extracts are also very cognate. Thus the herb of Lycopusexaltatus can be considered as potential sourse of the thyreotropic drug.
