Some peculiarities of accumulation of biologically active substances by medicinal plants in the conditions of the Middle Ural

Abstract:
Peculiarities of the chemical composition of a little-studied species of the genus Salvia L. - S. coccinea P.J. Buchoz ex Etlinger, S. horminum L., S. sclarea L., S.stepposa Shost., S. × superba, and S. tesquicola Klok. et Pobed. - were investigated during introduction into the conditions of the Middle Ural (Botanical Garden, Ural Branch of RAS, Ekaterinburg). The leaves of these species contain essential oils, condensed tannins, flavonoids (flavonols); the leaves of S. soccinea, S. stepposa, S. sclarea contain triterpene saponins, and S. horminum, S. × superba, S. tesquicola - steroidal saponins. The chemical composition of the aerial parts of species of the genus Agastache Clayton et Gronov. during introduction was analyzed. The studied species accumulate essential oils: Ag. rugosa (Fisch. et Mey) O. Kuntze - 0,53 %, Ag. urticifolia O.Kuntze - 0,56 %, Ag. foeniculum (Pursh) O. Kuntze - 0,83 %, Ag. mexicana (Kunth) Lint et Epl. - 1,2 %, Ag. scrophulariifolia (Willd.) Kuntze - 2,4 %, Ag. pringlei (Briquet) Lint et Epling - 0,2%. In the aerial parts of plants there were found flavonols, condensed tannins; Ag. rugosa and Ag. pringlei also contain hydrolyzable tannins. The raw material Ag. rugosa, Ag. mexicana, Ag. scrophulariifolia, Ag. urticifolia contains alkaloids. The contents of flavonoids in the raw material of meadowsweet Filipendula ulmaria (L.) Maxim. was analysed. All the studied species are perspective sources of biologically active substances and are of interest for the development of new drugs based on medicinal plant raw material.
